FAQ

Everything about requesting songs, running the queue and putting PLAY IT in your venue.

For guests

Do I need to download an app?

No. Scan the venue QR code and use PLAY IT in your phone browser.

Can I pay to force a song to play?

No. The DJ decides whether the request fits the set and when to play it.

How long does my request stay active?

The request window is 90 minutes. Keep your request page open to follow its status.

When am I charged?

The amount is authorized when you send. PLAY IT asks the payment provider to capture it if the DJ accepts. Declined or expired requests before acceptance are released; your bank may take time to show the release.

What if an accepted song is not played?

Contact contact@getplayit.com with your request reference. Playback is confirmed by the DJ, not by the timer. Automatic refunds for accepted requests are not currently available.

Can I send more than one request?

Yes. Each request is separate, with its own amount and status.

Why does the price change between venues?

Each venue or room chooses its own request price.

Which payment methods can I use?

The available options are shown at checkout and can vary by venue and country. Supported methods may include cards and compatible wallets.

For DJs

Do requests play automatically?

No. The DJ makes every music decision.

Can I decline a request?

Yes. Decline a song that does not suit the room.

What if I miss a notification?

Requests remain in your queue; enable supported device notifications to help you notice them.

Does PLAY IT need a separate DJ device?

Use the PLAY IT interface on a supported device. The best booth setup depends on your workflow.

When is the guest charged?

The amount is authorized on submission and captured if the DJ accepts. See the guest request page for full status and refund details.

Which plan is right for me?

Basic keeps monthly cost low for occasional use. Pro costs more monthly but lowers the PLAY IT fee on played requests. Compare the numbers on the pricing page.

For venues

Can the DJ reject a request?

Yes. The DJ decides what fits and can decline a request.

Does PLAY IT change our music policy?

No. Your venue and DJ keep control of the music and atmosphere.

Can we set our request price?

Yes. The venue room sets its guest-facing request amount and currency.

Can different nights have different settings?

Your room settings can be updated; talk to PLAY IT about arrangements for separate events or rooms.

Can multiple DJs access the venue?

The venue owner can invite DJs and manage team access.

Can we include PLAY IT in VIP or bottle service?

You can explore bundling request credit with existing premium offers. The package details remain yours.

What information can we see?

Depending on the plan, your dashboard can show request activity, played requests and request revenue. Pro includes analytics.

How do payouts work?

Eligible venue accounts connect to Stripe Connect. Payout timing depends on verification and payment provider schedules.

Do we need an iPad?

The DJ queue runs through the PLAY IT interface. Ask us about the best supported device for your booth; Signature lists an iPad and screen.

Can we use our own branding?

Pro and Signature include custom QR and branding in the current plan comparison.

How quickly can we launch?

Once the venue, payouts, DJ access and QR are ready, you can go live. Timing depends on setup and payout verification.

What if a guest sends an unsuitable song?

The DJ can decline it. A request never forces a change to your music policy.

Pricing

What is the PLAY IT fee?

It is the plan’s percentage fee on accepted requests: 30% with Basic DJ, 10% with Pro and 0% with Signature.

When is a guest charged?

The request amount is authorized when submitted. PLAY IT asks the payment provider to capture it if the DJ accepts. Declined requests or requests expiring before acceptance have their authorization released.

Are payment-processing fees separate?

Yes for Basic DJ and Pro. Signature includes payment-processing fees for the supported PLAY IT customer payment flow; unrelated bank, conversion, tax or dispute charges are not part of that statement.

Which plan suits occasional weekends?

Basic DJ has the lowest monthly subscription. Compare your expected accepted-request volume with Pro in the example above: Pro’s lower fee may make it cheaper overall at higher volume.

Why does Signature cost more each month?

It has 0% PLAY IT fee on accepted requests and lists supported payment fees plus an iPad and screen as included. At higher request volume, the lower variable fee can offset its higher fixed price.

Can I change plans or stop my subscription?

Manage billing through your account where available, or contact PLAY IT for a change. Access after cancellation or failed renewal follows the applicable billing period and terms.

Can one subscription cover multiple venues?

Plan coverage depends on your room and account setup. Contact PLAY IT before relying on one plan for multiple venues.

Do I need Pro for my own branding?

Custom QR and branding are listed for Pro and Signature; Basic includes the standard QR and DJ dashboard.

Do I receive payouts directly?

Eligible venue accounts connect through Stripe Connect for their payouts. Verification and bank schedules affect when funds arrive.

Do the prices include VAT?

Tax treatment depends on the customer and billing country. Check the final checkout or invoice for the applicable tax and total.

How it works

Does PLAY IT replace Spotify?

No. PLAY IT handles the guest request and DJ queue; it does not choose or play music for the DJ.

Does PLAY IT control what the DJ plays?

No. The DJ decides whether to accept, decline or play a request.

Does the DJ need special hardware?

The request queue is available through the PLAY IT interface. Ask us about the best setup for your booth.

Does the guest need to download anything?

No. A guest opens the room QR in a phone browser.

How do notifications work?

DJs can enable notifications on a supported device so incoming requests are easier to spot. The queue remains available in PLAY IT.

Can a venue have more than one DJ?

Venue owners can invite DJs to access their room. Access is managed by the venue.

What if the DJ changes during the night?

An authorized DJ can take over the room queue; the venue manages who has access.

Can the venue set a request amount?

Yes. The room setup includes the guest-facing request price and currency.
